Sawyer went through a major growth spurt and is starting to hover around 5T stuff in a lot of brands. His three-year-old body is shooting right up. I was all proud of myself for getting ahead of the game and buying some spring clothes and shoes while they were on sale during winter time..and now a lot of those clothes are going straight to storage to wait for Dawson because Sawyer is too dang tall.
We've continued experimenting with Sawyer's anxiety and had my former colleague's cute daughter come babysit Sawyer a few times. She was an unfamiliar face so we wanted to see how he did. He loves her! She's come by a handful of times and we've increased the amount of time we've been gone each time and Sawyer is totally unaffected. He get's super excited when we tell him that Taryn is going to come play.
Lately when I help Sawyer, or do something that he thinks requires a "thank you", he always tells me, "Thanks, man." But it, no joke, sounds like he's putting on the most extreme, and yet accurate, Jamaican accent. It's killer.
Recently I was getting after Dawson for something and Dawson didn't appreciate it. Sawyer stepped in and told me, "Be nice to brother, he's little." Like, yeah you're right dude, but also, stop using my words against me.
Dawson
Dawson has started saying "I love you" back to us and it makes me want to have a dozen kids so I can just live in this sweet stage forever (until reality kicks in 2 seconds later with tantrums, diapers, fighting, and so forth). He's also started to re-wrap himself in his towel after his bath because he doesn't like to be cold. I usually get him out and dry him off then let him sit naked while I lotion him up and all that jazz. But now he quickly grabs the towel back after I let it fall and wraps it around his belly and legs.
Dillon
Dillon's just been working away at Metalcraft. I did tell him about his super early birthday present though. I get too excited about giving him stuff, especially when I know it's really good, and just can't keep it a secret. I got tickets for Nitrocircus in May. They're going to be in St. George which is too close to pass up. Dillon's birthday isn't until August but...we'll take a picture to hang up in August while we eat his favorite dinner or something ha.
DaNae
I visited my old work place. Good, old CVMS. The lovely Cassy that was my student teacher, and now works there, was having a (surprise for her) birthday party during lunch and they invited me. It was so fun to see everyone and celebrate her. I experienced some pangs of, "I miss this", that I just didn't see coming. I wouldn't trade this time with my kids for anything and haven't really been pining to go back to teaching so those feelings were unexpected. A quick reminder of lesson planning, grading, classroom management, parents etc. helped me feel fine again about being done ;)
We had a family ice cream date. I don't know how, but Sawyer managed to get it all up his face. Ice cream eating commitment at it's finest.
Morning brush.
We visited the ducks and chicks that were at IFA.
"Hi, chicken!"
Dawson really thought he should get to hold one.
Both kids really like black beans. And I so appreciate that they'll eat them but the mess is craziness.
Bubble gun!
New sunglasses for #1
And #2
Dawson saying "I love you."
