Grandpa Loveland

Sawyer

Sawyer and Dillon did some mancrafting a couple weeks ago while I was gone and I forgot to post about it. Dillon had molded pieces of clay to put together and make a bomb from Mario Brothers. He let Sawyer help him paint and put it together. I'm so glad he does stuff like that with the boys. They're lucky to have Dillon for a dad.

Sawyer's favorite thing to say when he doesn't like what has been said to him is, "It's too dangerous." It was cute and funny the first few times, not so much anymore. We say it's time for bed. "It's too dangerous." I tell him to stop being sassy. "It's too dangerous." He get's told it's time to clean up toys. "It's too dangerous." I'm not entirely sure where he picked up that phrase but I'm not loving it.

Dawson

Dawson developed a crazy and mysterious rash that took almost two weeks to go away. It started on his feet and ankles and I thought it was probably heat rash (because it was a Sunday and our church building is basically 100 degrees year around, the worst) but then a few days later I noticed it had creeped up to his knees and the back of his elbows. It kept getting worse and not better so I finally took him to the doctor. They were as mystified as I was but weren't super concerned since it didn't effect his breathing or anything. We got sent home with Benadryl and were told to keep an eye on it (Duh..ha). It basically spread to everywhere but his torso and he was dosed with Benadryl for few days but it went away on it's own after another week or so. It was so weird.

Dawson got to go to his first week of nursery and he was completely opposite from Sawyer. He told Dillon bye at the door and didn't look back. Then when I went to pick up him up, he told me, "Nooooo" and started cruising towards the toys. When I swooped him into my arms, he started arching his back, crying, and reaching for the nursery worker. What a nut. After going to nursery with Sawyer for a year and a half, I'm okay with the fact that Dawson loves it there and doesn't want me to come get him.

While out grocery shopping we snagged some Girl Scout cookies. I got Samoas because they're the best and decided to try their new S'more cookies. I've been sharing with the boys and during lunch one day, I handed Dawson a S'more cookie. He freaked! Threw it against the wall and screamed, "Cookie!" while giving me a look like I'd betrayed him. I gave him a Samoa and he turned it all off in an instant, smiled at me, and sweetly said, "Cookie". So I guess we know his preference on Girl Scout treats now too.

Dawson is OBSESSED with trash cans. He loves to throw things away and sometimes, much to my disgust, pull things out of the trash. A lot of the time I'll find him hovering by our trash can and, when he thinks I'm not looking, rest his mouth on it's lip. It's so, so gross. I wish I knew how to get him to stop. When we go out places, he spots every single trash can that is remotely in our vicinity and says, "Chash! Chash!" over and over until we acknowledge the trash can...with every single trash can. He's fixated for sure.

Dillon

Dillon had the great idea to make a Summer bucket list for one of our date nights. It was nice to put activities down on paper, even if they seemed really small. Sometimes when people ask what we did over the summer, I feel like the answer is nothing, but at the same time, I know we did a lot and had fun. So I think it will be fun to have a whole list of things to check off and look back on at the end of summertime. We've got some goodies on there. For home, for out, bigger ideas, smaller ideas. I'm looking forward to it.

DaNae

We got the news that my Grandpa Loveland (my dad's dad) passed away and it broke my heart. We used to see them at least annually when I was growing up but then life changed and we saw them less often. Dillon and I have a vacation planned in April that we were going to use to make the rounds and see some family that live in the Salt Lake area but my Grandpa ended up needing back surgery and his body just couldn't rebound from it. I'm so sad that he never got to meet Dawson in person.

We were able to make it up to the viewing and funeral. Those things are always so hard but also comforting. It's always good to see family and friends come together when they know people are hurting. And it was good to get to reminisce about my Grandpa. When I think of him, I just always think about how easy going he seemed, so gentle and kind. When he smiled, I swear his eyes twinkled. Sometimes with mischief, other times just because he was so good-natured and his happy eyes showed it. He is absolutely missed by a lot of people.

Dillon and Sawyer's ba-bomb. Sawyer calls it a robot.

Easter eggs in the bath tub!

First nursery picture and treat.

Dying eggs with the Morris family.

Sawyer picked the Eggmoji box (he was definitely influenced by the Emoji movie)

His new favorite place to be, under our bathroom sink.

All the sunglasses while we traveled.

Waiting in the hotel lobby.

At the viewing. The kids actually did really good while everyone went through the line. I'm always grateful when little kids are around during times like that. They help bring such a sweet Spirit that brings smiles through the tears.

They love Braden.

Early morning in the hotel room.

Just stacking creamers while he waits for breakfast.
