Spring

Sawyer

Sawyer just keeps rotating through responses to being told what to do. Now if you tell him not to do something he comes back with, "Be okay, it's alright!" And then I tell him it's actually not alright and I really do need him to stop whatever it is he's doing. And suddenly I find myself in an argument with a three-year-old, never a good place to be.

He's so excited that we've had days that have allowed for water balloon weather. He wants to play with water balloons every single day. Thankfully some genius invented the "bunch of balloons" that make it so you can fill up 30ish at a time. Plus they tie themselves off. The best.

Today in sacrament there was an impromptu musical number given by the primary kids. As the primary kids filed up to the front, I asked Sawyer if he wanted to go sing with the big kids. To my surprise, he was all about it and went up to the front all by himself. He even stood nicely and made singing noises since he didn't know the song. I got ridiculously choked up with mom tears as I thought back to just a few months ago when he would have panic attacks because church and being left alone made himself so nervous. We're making progress. And I already know I'm not going to survive the primary program without shedding tears.

Dawson

Dawson's little feet have grown just enough that his size 3 shoes squeeze his foot but the size 4 shoes are way too big and make him fall all over the place. I thought since it's warming up, I would get him some flip-flops so he doesn't get so hot but his feet are seriously fat. Short and fat and the only chubby part on his body. I finally found some that fit and will hopefully hold him over until he grows enough to fit his size 4's.

Poor Dawson has been hit with some wicked allergies this week. Sawyer never had crazy allergies or rashes so I haven't had much allergy medicine on hand before now. We got some kid's Zyrtec that at least helps Daws function. Benadryl just knocks him out and I kind of feel bad basically putting my kid into drug-induced sleep if there's another option.

Dillon

Dillon has been doing yard work like crazy since our city cleanup is around the corner. The first day he worked for hours edging, mowing, etc. the front lawn and thought he was so good about using sunscreen...until the end of the day when he realized he forgot the back of his arms and all of his legs. I had to laugh because, who sunscreens all of their arms but the back? Lucky for him, his skin converts it to a tan basically overnight.

He was working on the back lawn and everything was going well until the lawn mower decided to die. He can get it started but it won't stay running. So that will be our next fix-it project I guess. But at least 98% of the lawn has been recently mowed.

DaNae

I've been spring cleaning in our house and it feels nice to declutter. Though it is difficult to do that and stay on top of regular cleaning with littles running around. So our spring cleaning is looking pretty good but the house is still somehow in chaos.

I donated blood this week and I think my body isn't a fan of it so much anymore. I used to be able to donate, drink a juice, and be good to go but the last few times I've gotten pretty dizzy and nauseous to where I was afraid to stand up. This time I was fine until the bag was full and I suddenly broke into a full on sweat, saw spots, and thought I was going to throw up. The workers I had were quick to help and it passed after a couple of minutes but I hate that I can't just handle it.

I started Whole30 this week after talking about it with one of my friends. I'm hoping it will be a nice reset. I've made it through the first week and it hasn't been too shabby. The biggest trick for me has been figuring out to eat more food, more often. I feel like I eat a whole garden everyday. Which isn't a bad thing but is definitely a change.

Dawson's reaction to his first time wearing flip-flops.

Outside with squirt guns.

Gotta do what big brother does.

A donut picnic.

Showing off his new airplane shirt.

We got to play at one of the elementary playgrounds while school was out for spring break and the boys loved it. They're so excited to be outside more.

Dawson likes to be independent and go down the slides without help.

Playing in the rain.

Watching the rain with mom.

One day he kept filling this Ziploc up with toys, walking them around, then dumping them out. Over and over.
