Sawyer
We took Sawyer to a SUU men's basketball game. He was really impressed by Thor the Thunderbird and snuck down to give him five. Sawyer was over the moon when Thor high-fived him AND gave him knuckles. He also wanted to go in the "big tunnel" that leads to the locker rooms so badly. He would watch the game a little here and there, then talk about Thor or the tunnel. Our friends shared a bag of popcorn with him that he quickly took over as his own and he was set for the rest of the game.
Anytime we get into the van to run errands or go for a drive, Sawyer gets excited and says, "Yeah, really cool ban! So amazing!" I'm not sure what has impressed him so much about our new vehicle but he's quite attached.
I took him and Dawson with me to do some pants shopping for myself, which is basically my least favorite kind of shopping. As I was trying on a pair, Sawyer stopped what he was doing and looked at me then said, " Oooooh, looking good mom!", which he then kindly repeated after every pair I tried on. Hilarious. If anyone needs a self-esteem boost, feel free to borrow my flattering three-year-old for some shopping.
Dawson
Dawson is getting really independent and stubborn with his eating and drinking. He's at that phase where he needs help with some stuff but gets mad if you try to help him. For example, Dawson wants the big boy sippies that Sawyer uses, but he spills all over the place when he uses them. But if I give him his straw sippies, he gets mad and backs away while screeching. Exhausting little dude.
Dawson loves to say the "three" when we count. He smiles in anticipation when we start with "one, two..." and then loudly yells, "Three!" When Dawson wants some love, he'll sit on my lap and move my hands so that they're wrapped around his belly. If I move my hand away, he grabs it and puts it back, then pats it like, "Right, there mom. Leave it right there."
Dillon
Dillon planned a day trip down to St. George the weekend before my birthday. He took me to Olive Garden and out shopping. It was really nice to spend time with just each other and actually get to look at stuff and try it on without kids being so over it. Then on my actual birthday, he was a good sport and took me and the boys out to dinner at Hong Kong Buffet. Dillon isn't big on Chinese food (but does like sushi?? gross) but he'll put up with it for special occasions.
After Dillon cleaned the MAF sensor in our van a few weeks ago, it seemed to be running fine. In fact, we took it down to St. George the weekend after for Austin's birthday and it drove great so we thought all was well. We decided to take it down a couple weeks later to watch Braden in a baseball tournament. Once we got down to St. George, we stopped for lunch and when we got back in the van to head to Brade's game, it wouldn't start. Then it started for a minute, enough to get us stuck in the middle of the street, before dying again. Some good Samaritans helped Dillon push it back into the parking lot so it was out of the way. We called my dad, who was thankfully down to watch the tournament too, and asked if he would come rescue us after the game was over. To kill time, we walked the boys over to the nearby Cracker Barrel and let them play on the chairs and check out the toys. They each left with a treasure to play with in the van while we waited. They did so, so good during our impromptu adventure.
My dad came and gave us a jump. We thought we were set, but then couldn't get our speed up past 40 mph on the freeway. So we pulled off and found a Big O Tire that was open. They checked out the van and let us know it was the fuel pump giving us problems. So we switched the car seats over to my dad's truck, left the van to be picked up the following Monday, and headed to watch some baseball. So now the van really is fixed, and runs like a dream. And poor Dillon doesn't have to keep guessing at the problem.
DaNae
I was so spoiled by that cute of husband of mine as well as by family and friends. Dillon does so good at birthdays and stuff. He made sure to tell Sawyer that it was my birthday and Sawyer really took it heart and told me, "Happy Birthday Mommy" about thirty-five times that day.
I'm a couple weeks into my 365 til thirty and it just seems so strange that I'm almost done with my twenties. So strange. I thought about making a "thirty by thirty" goals list but, let's be honest, I'm just not that kind of person ha. I can't even think of thirty things that I'd want to do in the next year that would be different enough to qualify for a special list. Which I think is a pretty good sign, really. Life is good and I'm grateful to be able to keep on keeping on.
At the SUU game.
Early birthday shopping.
We had to make a quick stop before Austin's party and the boys ended up with a caterpillar each thanks to Grandma Paula.
Ready to join in the Nerf war for Austin's party.
Little man holding my hand in place on his stomach.
The boys love these carts at the grocery stores. Now that I've mastered driving them around, I love them too simply for the fact that the boys are contained and happy.
Cracker Barrel chairs.
Playing in the back of the van with their toys from Cracker Barrel while we wait for Grandpa Dale.
For a couple of days, Dawson wanted this beanie on his head at all times.
A little baby shoot to show off Dawson's first faux hawk.
Slime!
Sawyer has started to dance around a lot lately, especially to this scene in the Emoji movie. His little wiggly bum is my favorite.
We got these shark shoes for Sawyer and he thinks they are just about the greatest thing in creation.
Out for a walk while the weather played nice.
This is why dad's the favoriate- nutella toast.
Sawyer wishing Bridgette a Happy Birthday.
Post-nap hair.
