Dawson Two & Three Months

Two month stats:

Weight: 11 lbs 2 oz (41st percentile)
Height: 22 1/4 in (29th percentile)
Head: 15 in (15th percentile)

Dawson's stats are almost identical to Sawyer's two months stats. The only difference is that he weighed a whopping whole ounce more than Sawyer did. I thought for sure Dawson would be heavier than that because he seems so pleasantly chubby but it must just all be in his cheeks.

During month two Dawson started grinning it up but would usually save it for when I talked to him. I don't mind being the favorite for a minute because we all know it will be his dad soon.

He still didn't really like pacifiers and would only take one every so often and only for a few seconds before getting mad and preferring to cry. And he started getting really weird about bottles. I was giving him a couple bottles a week just to make sure he would take one in case we ever needed to be apart or (heaven forbid) Dillon and I go on a date that lasts longer than two hours. He was taking them fine and then all of the sudden wasn't. Same bottle, still pumped milk, everything the same but he would throw a royal fit if a bottle was put in his mouth rather than the alternative.

He started to find his voice a little bit and would coo to himself.

He still preferred to be held over anything else and would let it be known he wasn't pleased about being put down.

He got comments like crazy on his big, blue eyes. I don't know where they came from but they are definitely his distinct feature. In fact, when I took him in to Dr. Gatherum's office for our postpartum visit, Dawson's eyes were all the nurses could talk about (and his little jean jacket..seriously impractical piece of baby clothing but it's just so cute.).

He often sleeps with his eyes open. It's definitely disconcerting.

Nice and cozy waiting at the pediatrician's office.

Dawson's third month had us throwing in the towel when it came to the binky. He won. He doesn't want it. This makes for some tear filled times when I'm busy attending to his older brother.

We did find a bottle the he'll grudgingly take. The comotomo bottle. I wouldn't say he was thrilled about it but he will take it. He still only gets tortured with the offering of a bottle 2-3 times a week to keep up that skill so I can have some freedom.

Dawson still has no kind of schedule when it comes to eating and sleeping. He sleeps pretty good at night but it's all over the place. Sometimes he'll sleep through the night, sometimes he wakes up twice. He'll take some good naps during the day too, but I never know when they're going to be. When he does wake up at night to eat (usually around 3 am) he likes to talk and smile for a good 45 minutes afterward before he tries to go back to sleep. He is always in a good mood though so I've found I can just lay him in his bassinet and let him party while I try to fall back asleep.

He started noticing Sawyer more and will smile if Sawyer gives him any kind of attention.

Dawson was blessed by Dillon and it was a great day. Among other things Dillon blessed Dawson with "a physical knowledge to understand the world and a spiritual knowledge to understand the gospel" which really stood out to me and I thought was beautifully put.

Dawson really is a happy baby and I'm so glad he's part of our family.

His little hands are usually up and splayed out like this while he sleeps. I always think he'll relax them and put them down but they stay that way during most of his naps.
