Christmas 2016

December was a month long of parties celebrating Christmas and family. Our first get together was in Delta with Dillon's family. I realized after we got back that I only took pictures of the presents the boys got, which isn't meant to be materialistic, I just like to remember the fun things they're given since they won't stick around forever as the grow up. But it was fun to visit with Dillon's family and for some of them, it was the first time they got to see Dawson.

The boys with their cousins on the Thatcher side. I'm pretty sure it was nap time for Sawyer. Picture credit to Dillon's mom.

Some Harry Potter swag for Sawyer and Dawson. I love it!

Most of Sawyer's presents

This is absolutely one of my favorite presents that Sawyer got. His cousin Allie, who was 6 at the time, wrapped it for him herself and then when he opened it she said that she, "didn't need it anymore so Sawyer could have it."

Eating utensils for Sawyer from his Aunt Bridgette. He loves this plate and I think it's actually helped him be a better eater.

Dawson's presents
We stamped Dawson's little foot on a keepsake ornament in keeping with our tradition of doing this for our kids' first Christmas. His little footprint is so tiny compared to Sawyer's almost one-year-old print.

Our next party was with my side of the family. We did dinner and games and then afterward, for some reason, the hissing cockroaches that my aunt usually keeps in her classroom were brought out. Disgusting. Sawyer was all about petting them though, crazy kid.

Sawyer and G ready for dinner
On Christmas Eve we spent the morning decorating a Christmas train with Sawyer. He was pretty impressed that he got to draw with the icing. He also really enjoyed eating the little bead candies meant for decorating.

Sawyer's part of the masterpiece.
For the evening of Christmas Eve we went over to my parents house for dinner.

And then we went home and put the boys to bed so that we could wait for Santa.

Two sleepy parents waiting for Santa
Sawyer loved his tent that he got from Santa. In fact for the majority of Christmas morning, he wouldn't get out of the tunnel so we had to pass him his presents from us and Dawson to open while he stayed in his spot.

Checking out his stocking

Opening his presents- Hungry, Hungry Hippos from his brother and a remote control car from us.

Dawson was impressed with Santa's sense of baby fashion.
It didn't seem right to not get presents for Dawson's first Christmas even though at that point in his life he only cared about two things, and they both happened to be part of my personal anatomy, so we still picked some stuff out for him- a blanket from his brother and Finding Dory from us.

Playing with his remote control car.
Because Christmas fell on a Sunday there was a Christmas program we got to attend. I had the perfect vision in my head of a cute picture of my boys in their matching dress clothes showing they were all ready to go to the program. That definitely didn't work out. The best we could do was take separate pictures with a blurry one of Sawyer and Dillon and one with me holding a tired, fussy Dawson. Here's to lowering expectations.

The rest of Christmas was spent with family at my parents house and then relaxing together at home. Definitely a fun holiday season.
