One, single post for the second pregnancy and after I've already given birth...sounds about right. Although I think I only did three total posts for my pregnancy with Sawyer so I guess I'm just not on the ball for posts like these. Nonetheless, it deserves to be documented so here we go..
Pregnancy round two was rough, guys. It was rough. I don't want to come off as negative or a whiner but I also want to be realistic and this is my blog so I'll do whatever I want ha. Ultimately I'm so glad that the end result was a healthy baby and a healthy me.
The nausea and throwing up this time around was insane. I got sick with Sawyer but I think it was pretty run-of-the-mill average sick. This time I threw up at least four times a day for about 17 weeks. My esophagus was so raw, there were times when the vomit would have blood in it. In fact, I felt so different that I was convinced at first that it was either twins or a girl because my body was having a hard time coping. After finding out it was another boy (which I started to have an inkling of and was glad to have it turn out that way) for Sawyer to play with I didn't know what to think of the way my body was handling being pregnant.
I had about two blissful weeks of no nausea but then from about 20 weeks on I threw up almost every single morning. Eating didn't help and, in my opinion, throwing up an empty stomach is better than throwing up whatever you just ate. This made my mornings pretty predictable. Wake up, start getting me and Sawyer ready, wait to gag for seemingly no reason, throw up and then worry about breakfast..
My body did pretty well with the aches and pains until the second half. Then everything just hurt. I think the baby was sitting a lot differently than Sawyer did while hanging out on the inside because, wowzer, my poor pelvic and hip bones hurt. I basically waddled without shame everywhere I went because it was the only way I could transport my big, old body from place to place.
There were definitely some fun differences about this pregnancy though. For instance, not one single new stretch mark showed up. Good job, baby boy. My first pregnancy trashed my skin as far as stretch marks so I definitely didn't need anymore.
And because baby two sat differently, his movements were a lot more obvious. I never actually saw Sawyer move, not one time. And Dillon could never feel him. But this time, my belly would jump and roll as the baby moved and Dillon got to feel a lot of that. So that was more fun for sure.
So round two, it was a doozy but with everything said and done, it all turned out pretty great. My body is recovering well and baby is thriving so far. Now, if I could just wish away this flesh fannypack that's been left behind as a pregnancy souvenir.. ;)
