Sawyer Seven & Eight Months

During his seventh month Sawyer:

Started shaking his head back and forth when he gets excited.

Experienced his first Delta Fourth of July (though we skipped the derby because..hot).

With Papa Steve
With Uncle Greg

Went to some of cousin Braden's ballgames.

Captured the escaping binky, midair.

Was soothed by Itsy-Bitsy Spider when he got fussy and not much else. (Still his song of choice a month and a half later).

Started trying/eating some solids. He does good with rice cereal mixed with apple juice. He's also had other baby food (squash, sweet potatoes, peas, prunes) but they all...slowed things up we'll say.

Became stable enough to sit in a high chair with some blanket support.
Lunch date with Mom and Grandpa Dale

Really, realllly wanted to be able to move around, which mostly turned into him flapping around and looking like a penguin. (It's even better in person)

Grew into his dapper church outfit.

Started noticing, and was rather intrigued by, men's facial hair.

Started making this face, while flexing his arms, and going "Ooo, ooo, ooooooooooooooo!" like a monkey.

And mastered sitting up on his own with no help at all.

During his eighth month Sawyer:

Became a MAJOR noise maker. He now screeches (at the top of his lungs), growls, clicks his tongue, claps, and blows spit bubbles. All of this, all.day.long.

Became quite the hawk-eye for detail. The tiniest things will catch his attention and he has to touch them. Buttons, my freckles, tears in pants, and (my favorite) the sunspots that show up on our floor in the afternoon/evening. He wants so badly to be the holder of sunshine.

Began an obsession with laces, drawstrings, and the like. Dillon's shoe is his favorite toy and will keep him entertained longer than anything else.

Had some hair growth...which Grandpa Dale likes to style.

Graduated to the big kid tub.

Experienced swinging for the first time. His noises and wiggles say it all.

With baby friend Sam
Played some games with me and Dillon.

Finally (finally!) accepted that rolling to his back isn't that traumatizing and now rolls front to back to front in quick succession. He rolls until he hits a major obstacle. I move him. He does it again. Love my little log-like roller.
