Memorial Day

Sawyer

Sawyer is soooo happy that we've hit the season where he gets to play in or with water pretty much every day. That boy's a fish. I would totally sign him up for swim lessons if I didn't think he would panic at the separation. But, I'm hoping we can work him up to that for next year.

He's super-duper argumentative and sassy. (If I say "sassy" instead of "being a jerk" then I still sound like a loving mom, right? ha) It creates some draining moments for both of us throughout the day.

We had to upgrade his undies since he's gotten so tall and he decided on a Batman pack and a Spiderman pack. The Batman one I get because he's watched the Lego Batman movie but I have no idea where he picked up being into Spiderman. Makes me laugh. He's super impressed with himself and his new undies and says that they are "coo-ool" (he says cool with two syllables every time and I love it).

Dawson

Even though Dawson loves nothing more than to play outside, he is less than excited that it's water season. He likes to play with water if it's in something like a water table or water balloons but he is definitely not a fan of being IN the water. So that should make some of our planned pool trips interesting.

He's got all four fangs coming in at the same time and it is making him unbelievably ornery. He was full on gnawing on the table the other day during lunch. I assume he was trying to get some relief. And now I have baby teeth marks permanently etched into my furniture.

Dillon

The guy that came over to fix our sprinkler system had some not awesome news when he came back from our crawl space. The pipe that connected to our kitchen sink drain was broken and leaking all over underneath our house. Thankfully, he was nice enough to just show/tell Dillon exactly what to do so we could just take care of it ourselves and save a ton of money. After borrowing a couple of tools from friends and getting a couple of parts from Home Depot, Dillon was able to fix it all pretty smoothly (with the exception of hanging out with too many spiders in our crawl space, one of which caused him to use some choice words). We put a fan down there for a few days and all seems to be well now. (On a side note, Sawyer is full on terrified of the opening that goes into our crawl space. He had Dawson in a complete headlock when it was open because he was concerned Dawson would fall in and so he was "helping".)

Dillon took me to see the newest Avengers movie. I'll just say my heart was not fully prepared for hours of sadness and an ending with zero resolution. Dillon was fine with it all because he somehow knows a lot about the comic book world without being an actual comic book reader type.

DaNae

I've been really enjoying getting into our bucket list as a family. It's made the season really fun. I was recently called to be the assistant Girls' Camp director for my ward and I'm looking forward to it. Being with the Young Women was one of my favorite callings and I was only there for a few months before I had Sawyer so it will be fun to work with them again.

Starting our bucket list with root beer floats on the porch.

Teamwork on the Big Wheel.

Sawyer can't quite get it started without a little push and little Dawson figured out that he could sit on the back to give some assistance.

Dawson saying Sawyer for one of the first times.

Dawson copies everything Sawyer does. At the end of this video you can hear Sawyer roaring while we're at the dinner table, so of course Dawson does it too.

Painting!

One of Dawson's favorite things right now is dinosaurs. His Grandma Ronna sent some shirts in the mail for him and Sawyer. Sawyer's has sharks on it and Dawson's has dinosaurs. When Dawson saw his shirt, he danced a little jig and screeched, "dinosaur!" just like he does in video.

At a neighborhood end-of-school-year water party.

Sawyer had no problem jumping in with the big kids.

Donut eating. Definitely my kid. Like, "I don't know why you guys are making it hard on yourself..."

"...I'm just going to use my hands to grab this bad boy and take a bite."

Worn out from all the playing.

Dawson's face after I had the nerve to put him in the new sprinkler toy we bought.

At least Sawyer loves it.

Loves drinking out of the spray bottle.

Popsicles with the brothers.

Sawyer's favorite spot on Grandpa Dale.

Perched like a parrot.

Everybody loves Grandma Paula's iPad.

Aunt Andee bought him this hat when he was still In Utero and it finally fits him! He loves wearing it.

Sometimes to survive third hour with Sunbeams, we collect pine cones.

Baby on the hip, scrubbing the table.

My mom's side of the family got together for a BBQ on Memorial Day to see my Aunt Rachel and her girls before they moved all the way to Florida to meet up with my Uncle Raegan who started a new job.

Food, family, and water balloons made for a good time.

Brooklyn and Grandpa Baker.
